About Us

The Okanagan Labour Relations Council (OLRC) has been a successful member-driven labour relations organization supporting school districts in the interior of BC since 1979. Our mission is to provide trusted, efficient labour relations solutions that enhance the working and learning cultures of member organizations. The services provided include collective bargaining and contract administration, investigations and performance management, grievance and arbitration management, attendance support and disability management, job evaluation administration, exempt staff employment issues, management coaching and training.

The OLRC currently provides assistance to seven, member school districts as well as contract services to several other local districts. The OLRC also works closely with the British Columbia Public School Employer’s Association (BCPSEA) to provide district liaison services for OLRC member school districts.

Our Team

The Okanagan Labour Relations Council team consists of Tammy Sowinski – Executive Director and Nikki Cescon – Executive Assistant, Human Resources.

Tammy,

has over 25 years of experience in labour relations and human resources in the private and public sector with both union and non-union workforces. Tammy has a Bachelor of Commerce Degree, with honors, Human Resources and holds her Certified Professional, Human Resources (CPHR) designation.

Nikki,

has been working in human resources for the past 15 years in various industries and has HR generalist experience in both union and non-unionized work places. Nikki has a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree and also holds her Certified Professional, Human Resources (CPHR) designation.

Kathy,

has 30 years of public sector experience in attendance support, wellness and disability management with 20 years of that being in the BC K-12 education sector. Kathy holds a Disability Management Certificate from Simon Fraser University and the National Institute of Disability Management.
